At Jacaranda College & Pre-Primary we believe that learning and education go far beyond a mere “A” on a school report.  Our children’s success is built on a strong sense of who they are, what they can achieve and what it feels like to be part of a happy and focused school.

If you find your way to Jacaranda College & Pre-Primary, you are a seeker – a seeker of independence, of equality, of dignity, of diversity, of development, of growth, and of education appropriate for the “NOW” generation.

If you hope to find a school where excellence is anticipated and expected, and where it is defined as supporting each child in his or her efforts to do their very best, as well as a community where the partnership between school and family is a core element and an expected resource, you have steered in the right direction.  Ours is an educational community offering exceptional academics in a caring, family oriented environment. We value each individual in a supportive community, seeking challenge, opportunity, balance and holistic development for all our children.  For us school, from pre-primary to high school, is about change and growth.  It is about inspiration as well as perspiration.

Our education focus is underpinned by educational research.  It is knowledge- and skill-based, developmentally age-appropriate and child-centred.  We are committed to providing high quality rounded education based on a wide spectrum of academic, sporting and cultural activities.

We greatly value the part that parents play in the education of their own children and recognise the work they have already done in teaching their children as their first educators.  We seek to continuously strengthen this partnership between home and school.

We believe that our greatest obligation is to prepare children to perform well and effectively in the world that they will be living and working in, and not the world we have known, or prefer to have.

The child is at the centre of everything we do!

Every child has the right to feel valued, to feel intelligent, to feel beautiful, to feel inspired.  Every child should carry a badge of victory and hope.

Children must be able to celebrate new beginnings while respecting and learning from the past.  They should experience the unity and harmony that can be found in diversity.  They should choose their own path in life.  They should learn the fulfillment of taking responsibility and accountability for the consequences of their choices and enjoy the hope for new encounters and experiences.

In January 2003, the pre-primary school took occupation of its existing facilities at 57 Skimmer Street, The Reeds, Centurion. Smiley Kids Rooihuiskraal became an early childhood education bastion and preferred pre-primary school in Centurion over time with a superb reputation for service, care and education excellence. In June 2012 the development and registration process for Jacaranda College commenced as a direct answer to the demand from existing preschool parents to extend services to the arena of independent or private schooling. Jacaranda College was registered as an independent private school with the Gauteng Department of Education effective for operation January 2013, under registration number: TS 700 400633, at the premises of 4 Amanda Street, The Reeds, Centurion.

On 27 October 2014 the Pre-Primary changed its name from Smiley Kids Rooihuiskraal to Jacaranda Pre-Primary School.  The decision supported the Pre-Primary school’s vision to demonstrate and actively develop synergy and alignment between itself and the associated private school, Jacaranda College, in terms of branding, common objectives, ethos, vision, and mission.

Naomi Eloff, Chief Executive Officer of Jacaranda Pre-Primary said: “Adopting the name Jacaranda Pre-Primary aligns the business’ formal names with our long term goals and vision for the schools in the markets in which we now operate.  Moving to Jacaranda Pre-Primary underlines the transition the business has made over the last three years, moving away from a stand-alone early childhood education facility, to providing a one-stop educational and childcare facility of excellence that will serve children from 4 months to Grade 12, by the end of the last stage of development.  In this we will pursue, providing our clients with not only outstanding academic education, but a superior nurturing environment that is child-focused and aimed at supporting the development of every child holistically by means of exceptional care and supervision”.

The relationship between Jacaranda Pre-Primary and Jacaranda College is symbiotic in nature – they are completely independent legal and operational entities.  However, the management and control of the schools are firmly within the embrace of an overarching management team ensuring consistency and the continuation of client-focused service levels, strong, hands-on management, and holistic child-orientated direction in policies, practices, and education philosophies.
